The Rakaposhi mountain is a 7,788 m high mountain in the Karakoram mountain range located in the Nagar Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. The name Rakaposhi, meaning “snow-covered” came from one the fact that you can see the exceptional rise of its snow-covered peaks all the way from the Karakoram Highway route that goes through Nagar Valley. You can even see its majestic wall of snow all the way from Hunza Valley.
Experience this 17.1-km out-and-back trail near Husseini, Gilgit-Baltistan. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 7 h 57 min to complete. Trekkers can hike to base camp from the village of Minapin in Nagar Valley. This trail is great for backpacking, camping, and hiking, and it’s unlikely you’ll encounter many other people while exploring. Rakaposhi Base Camp at 3500m is located at the base of Rakaposhi peak, alongside Minapin glacier.
Day 0 – Departure from Islamabad” Departure from I-8 Markaz Islamabad at 11:30 PM. Via Islamabad – Hazara Motorway and onwards Chillas or Babusar Pass
Day 1 – Islamabad to Minapin.
Breakfast stop at Naran or Basham Short stay at Lulusar and Babusar Pass, Stop at Junction Point, Arrival Minapin at 3:30 PM, Trek briefing over dinner, Overnight in Minapin
Day 2 – Minapin to Hapakun Campsite” Breakfast at 9:00 AM, Start trek to Hapakun (4/5 hours) From Minapin to Hapakun camp it will take 3-4 hours then will have a lunch break, Free time at Hapakun camp, Dinner and overnight camping at Hapakun
Day 3 – Minapin to Rakaposhi Basecamp.
Breakfast at 7:30 AM, Close the campsite and continue trek to the base camp (2-3 hours), The path through woods and pasture climbing steeply to the crest of lateral moraine which until now has hidden the huge Minapin glacier to the left, Arrival at the base camp and establish campsite, Rest of the time free to explore, Stargazing in the evening, Dinner and overnight at Rakaposhi Basecamp
Day 4 – Rest & Diran Peak Exploration.
Breakfast & trek to Diran peak base camp (3-4 hours), Crossing Minapin glacier & reaching Diran base camp will give you a perfect view of Rakaposhi-7788m, Diran Peak-7266m & amazing view of Minapin Glacier, If you are not too tired you can visit Kacheli lake which is (a 1.5-hour) trek further & then treks back to Rakaposhi base camp for dinner & overnight camping.
Day 5 – Basecamp to Minapin”
Breakfast & hike back to Minapin valley (4-5 hours), Arrival Minapin at noon, Refresh and relax at minapin for rest of the time, dinner and overnight in Minapin
Day 6 – Back to Islamabad” Breakfast at 7:00 AM, Leave for Islamabad, Lunchstop at Moon Restaurent Besal or Basham. Continue drive towards Islamabad, Arrival Islamabad midnight at 10:00 PM, End of tour
